Purpose-built sports city
Within Dubailand, a new purpose-built sports city is to be built that will be known as the Dubai Sports City – world class sports venue. Actually, the Dubai Sports City will be a pioneering purpose-built sports city since no other such venue exists in the entire world yet at present. When completed, the Dubai Sports City will house up-to-date sports venues, sports academies, residential developments and commercial complexes.
First Phase completion by 2007
The Dubai Sports City - world-class sports venue is expected to enter First Phase completion by 2007 of its construction. When that happens, the public will get to enjoy The Dunes golf course designed by Ernie Els; and will witness the unveiling of the opening phase of a residential development within known as the Victory Heights. Dubai Sports City should occupy a total of 50 million square feet of Dubailand property upon final completion of the entire purpose-built sports city.
