UAE Desert Challenge

The UAE Desert Challenge is an annual event which determines the winner of both the auto and motorcycle Cross Country Rally World Cups. This is a real challenge as the racers have to compete in a rugged desert terrain. It becomes a real challenge for them.

Racers prepare their vehicles for the six- day event and compete in qualifying rounds to determine their position. Enthusiasts from around the world come to this exciting final event.

The event was conceived by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, whose motor sport career goes back to the early '80s. Mohammed has an unparalleled knowledge of the desert, local customs and protocol.

The event spans six days, starting with the Prologue, a spectator "show" stage in Dubai which serves as a qualifying stage. It establishes the running order for the main event in the desert.

Although held in the desert area, yet the event is highlighted and maintained by the Media. For this credit goes to the generous support and expertise of Inmarsat- which is a global satellite network and offers mobile satellite communications.
